Hakata Summer Festival (August 16 – 18)

Contents

Held once again this year in the plaza located right outside JR Hakata Station is the Hakata Summer Festival!

This festival is home to a number of food stands offering delicious food and drink including shaved ice and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There will likewise be a variety of events including live music and Japanese taiko drum performances.

A large wooden stage will be set up in the center of the plaza where you can enjoy joining in on a massive Bon Odori dance to the resounding beat of the taiko drums. There will also be children’s festival games, uchimizu (the traditional sprinkling of water) and Bon Odori dances, making this the perfect outing for all ages during the summer holidays.
